About me
My name is Chelsea Russell. My husband and I have two dogs who we love to pieces. We bring them with for car rides, bring them camping, and go on special outings just for them. Owning dogs has changed the way that I live life, and has made everything good about my life better. I miss them when I am gone, and I love coming home to them. On top of loving my own dogs, a black lab and a pitbull-mastiff mix, I am an avid pitbull lover, promoter and now, foster. I believe that these dogs can change lives. I know they have changed mine.
The difference I hope to make
I hope that through my stories I can help spread the word about these wonderful, misunderstood dogs. I hope to continue fostering pitbulls and help save as many as I can. I am aiming to therapy certify my pit-mix Chase and use him to help show society how gentle pitbull type dogs can be. I dream of getting other pitbull supporters in the area together for events like Pitbull Walks and Pitbull educational meetings. I hope to help people accept this sweet, loyal and incredibly loving breed and I believe that by educating people I can help change the lives of many pitbulls and people combined.
My love of fostering
Everyday of my life I hear someone say to me “I could never foster because I would never be able to let the dog go.” These people have a point. Giving a dog to a new family is an incredibly painful thing to do and I have shed many tears for my past fosters. However, when I fall in love with a dog I never forget them and therefore, as I fall in love with dog after dog after dog my heart fills up with more and more love every time.
I hope that by writing about my wonderful pitbull fosters and sharing my experiences I can not only help find them amazing “fur”ever homes but also inspire others to give a pitbull a chance, try fostering, or get involved in some way.
I really appreciate your post and you explain each and every point very well. Thanks for sharing this information. And I’ll love to read your next post too.
I love the analogy of your heart filling with love every time you say goodbye… I think I need to tattoo that to the inside of my eyeballs for the next few days ;(
You’re right! Our “abouts” are so similar! Great minds 🙂
